Is a breast lift the same as a breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation is a procedure that best refers to the placement of breast implants that add volume and shape to the breasts. While this is different than a breast lift, it can be done in conjunction with a breast lift for improved results. The breast lift is more focused on removing excess skin and tissue and bringing the breasts upward. Placing a breast implant during this procedure is best for restoring volume and firming the breasts.
Who is a good candidate?
During an initial consultation appointment with our board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Lisa Hunsicker, women are encouraged to talk about their breasts and what they’d like to improve. This helps give our team a better idea of your body contouring goals and determine if a breast lift would be appropriate. Some patients with mild stretching or sagging may still benefit from the placement of an implant which can add volume and still improve the position of the breasts on the chest.
How long is the recovery following the mastopexy procedure?
Before the procedure is performed, Dr. Lisa Hunsicker will discuss the recovery process and how much time may need to be taken off of regular activities. This includes exercising, which may be held off for several weeks until the patient has properly healed.
