Non-Surgical Voluma Denver
The new Voluma dermal filler by the makers of Juvéderm is the first and only of its kind. Other fillers like Juvéderm have become an extremely popular solution for softening the appearance of moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles. Voluma is different in that it is specifically intended for restoring volume that has been lost in the cheeks. Like Juvéderm, Voluma uses hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring substance in our skin) as the active ingredient to replenish volume and fight off signs of aging.
Why You May Consider Voluma
Your face loses its natural supply of hyaluronic acid over time, causing it to lose volume and firmness. If you suffer from any of the following issues, you may be a good candidate for Voluma treatments with our provider:
- Sunken or hollow cheeks
- A gaunt, thinned look of the face
- Lack of firmness in the cheeks
Patients who have undergone Voluma treatments also often experience a subtle lifting effect from the dermal filler. Dr. Hunsicker can also perform your treatment along with other dermal fillers or Botox to address different signs of aging in other areas of the face as well.
FAQ
Juvéderm Voluma XC is intended for the treatment of larger areas of lost volume. Dr. Hunsicker will administer the treatment while you are fully awake. Because the results are almost instant, you will be able to see the changes in your appearance as Dr. Hunsicker injects Voluma. Your treatment typically will last just about 30 minutes and requires no downtime afterward. You may experience minimal side effects, such as redness or slight irritation; however, these effects will fade over a day or two.
Clinical studies of Voluma have shown patients still experiencing the results of a single treatment after two years. When you see results fading or feel that a touch-up is necessary, you can come in for additional Voluma treatments with our provider.
The Voluma injections may cause bruising, or a mild swelling in the treated area. This can cause your lips or face to look a bit fuller than expected immediately following treatment. This swelling improves rapidly, and you will see the true results of your treatment once that occurs. You can ice the treated area during the 24 hours after your treatment to reduce swelling. After your treatment, you should avoid alcohol, exercise, and prolonged exposure to sunlight for 24 hours. After this, you’re free to return to your normal routine and enjoy the results of your treatment.
