Sublative Wrinkle Reduction Treatment

What Is Sublative Skin Rejuvenation?

Sublative skin rejuvenation is an advanced technology that uses radio frequency to deliver an effective and controlled fractional treatment to address wrinkles, scars, laxity, large pores, and textural irregularities on the skin. Similar to “Fraxel” treatments, it creates small injuries to the skin in a matrix pattern. Targeted heat energy is directed into the dermis, focusing the radio-frequency below the skin’s surface without overtreating the top layer. By activating the body’s natural wound-healing response, this increases fibroblast and collagen activity to improve skin tone and texture, while healthy skin around the treatment area accelerates the healing process. Post treatment, new and healthy skin cells are produced. The result is a smoother, tighter-looking complexion.

What Is Sublative Skin Rejuvenation Used To Treat?

Sublative is the newest generation of fractional skin resurfacing. It uses radio-frequency to ablate small zones of skin, leaving the surrounding tissue untouched and intact. These unaffected areas allow for more effective and rapid tissue healing and collagen production. With the recommended three treatments, you can expect to see:

  • Improvements in skin texture, tone, and firmness
  • A noticeable smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles
  • A reduction in pore size

How Many Sublative Skin Rejuvenation Treatments Will I Need?

To achieve maximum results, a series of three treatments every 3-4 weeks is recommended. Some patients will need up to five treatments, and it is best to evaluate results 6 weeks after the third treatment.

Additional Sublative Skin Rejuvenation FAQs

You can anticipate having some degree of redness and warmth to your newly treated skin, as well as inflammation within 15 minutes to 1 hour of your treatment. The amount of redness depends on both your own genetic make-up, as well as the aggressiveness of the treatment performed. During your consultation, your provider will review what you can personally expect after your treatment. In general, swelling can last for up to 12-24 hours, and redness from 4-12 hours. After the redness and swelling subside, you will notice a rough or chapped texture to the skin for about one week. If you look closely at the skin, you will see a “net-like” pattern, or what appears to resemble a window screen or fabric netting. This treated skin may darken a bit and slough on on its own within 5-7 days. This can be treated with the recommended post-procedure products that will be discussed during your consultation.

Patients say it feels like a hot pinch sensation, similar to snapping an elastic band on your skin. Comfort is enhanced by either cooling the skin during treatment and/or use of a topical numbing cream.

Because the Sublative treatment uses radio frequency, and not light technology, this treatment is safe and effective for most skin types—including darker skin and patients with melasma. Any medical laser procedure has a risk of side effect such as blistering, crusting, and pigment changes. These risks are rare and usually quickly resolved. At Revalla, our providers will always consult with you before treatment to make sure you receive the safest and most effective treatment possible.
