Many women are not fully informed about their options for breast reconstruction after breast cancer. The Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day (BRA Day) is designed to bring awareness as well as access to these women to help them move past breast cancer for good.
As part of the second annual BRA Day happening this October 16th, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Plastic Surgery Foundation are holding a contest to see who can come up with the most creative use of the event’s special double ribbon. The contest will be held on the social media platforms, Vine and Twitter, using the hashtag #closetheloop.
Vine is a new social media app that allows users to record short, six-second looping videos on their iPhone or Android smart phones.
The contest asks that participants use the Vine app to create a unique video that incorporates the BRA Day double loop ribbon. All participants are required to sign a BRA Day affiliate agreement in order to be eligible for the contest. They are then asked to post the video to Twitter using the #closetheloop hashtag before November 1st. A winner will be chosen by breast reconstruction patients by December 20th and will receive a $5,000 prize to be used toward planning their very own BRA Day event in 2014.
