Eyelid surgery, medically known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure that is used to rejuvenate the eye area when imperfections or signs of aging exist. Many factors can exacerbate issues of the eye area, including natural signs of aging, genetics, puffy eyes, and drooping eyelids. In addition, some older patients who deal with sagging of the eyelids may experience impairment and reduced vision.
To reverse these problems, patients often benefit from eyelid surgery. Eyelid surgery can address excess skin in the area, while also removing fat and muscle to restore a more youthful appearance to the eyelid and improve overall eyelid shape and contours. This procedure requires precision and experience to achieve the best possible results.
Who is a candidate for blepharoplasty?
Patients should always understand the risks and side effects common with surgical procedures to determine if they are comfortable with having plastic surgery done. Infection and scarring are common concerns that can develop. However, most of our healthy patients who are having this procedure done find the reward worth more than the risk and move forward with the procedure. During an initial consultation appointment, our team will evaluate the patient to determine if they are a good candidate for this or other surgeries and procedures available in the practice.
