Everything You Need to Know About the Mommy Makeover

If you’re a mom, it goes without saying—having children is a full-time job. And with the constant demands of motherhood, there’s little time left to focus on you. But that doesn’t mean that you have to be stuck with your post-baby body forever. With a mommy makeover in Denver, you can reclaim your figure and restore your body confidence. So give yourself a little treat this year, mom—you deserve it!

Am I a Good Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?

Good candidates for this procedure typically do not plan on having any more children in the future. That’s because getting pregnant again will very likely compromise your mommy makeover results, because additional weight gain and skin stretching are inevitable. Dr. Hunsicker usually recommends her mommy patients hold off for at least three to six months after childbirth until they start planning this rejuvenating surgery. Specifically, for patients considering breast augmentation, waiting at least six months after finishing breast feeding allows for more appropriate sizing—and ensures the implants selected won’t be too small once all the milk leaves the ducts.

It’s also important that candidates are in good physical health and close to their ideal weight when doing surgical planning. And because this is elective surgery, Dr. Hunsicker requires her patients be non-smokers for several weeks before and after their procedures. Smoking can lead to unnecessary risks and complications while your body recovers from the operation. Alcohol intake should also be kept to a minimum, with no more than two to three drinks per week.

A Personalized Procedure Just for You

Your mommy makeover with Dr. Hunsicker will target all the common trouble spots moms experience after giving birth. Drooping breasts, a protruding tummy, and pockets of pesky baby weight are all frequent complaints, but that’s not to say that the makeover procedure is meant to only target those specific issues alone. You and Dr. Hunsicker will go over exactly what areas you’d like to address during your personal consultation. Based on your unique needs and goals, Dr. Hunsicker may recommend incorporating additional procedures, such as labiaplasty or vaginal rejuvenation, to give you the results you want from the mommy makeover. The procedures she most commonly performs are:

The Mommy Makeover Is for More Than Just Looks

Your main motivation may be to improve the appearance of your post-baby body, but a mommy makeover offers so much more than that. Pregnancy can change your internal core muscle alignment and function, in addition to leaving unsightly stretch marks and loose skin. Many women suffer from a stretched and separated rectus abdominis, which can cause weakness and a bulging tummy that can’t be fixed by diet and exercise. As part of a tummy tuck, Dr. Hunsicker will tighten those loose abdominal muscles to restore strength and flatness to your abdominal area.

The drooping loose skin on your breasts and stomach can be troublesome, too. You may notice that wearing certain outfits or attire has become difficult or physically uncomfortable following childbirth. The mommy makeover procedure can alleviate this with a breast augmentation and/or breast lift, a tummy tuck, and liposuction.
